    1 killed, 3 injured as fresh clashes reported in Manipur, total shutdown imposed on NH-2

    Around 2:30 am on Sunday, a shootout broke out in the Leimakhong-Kangchup region's periphery, leaving one person dead and three injured.

    Digital Desk: A fresh incident of violence was reported in the Kangpokpi district of Manipur, which culminated in the death of a Kuki-Zo volunteer at Bethel Village, which is under the Koubru range. 

    Around 2:30 am on Sunday, a shootout broke out in the Leimakhong-Kangchup region's periphery, leaving one person dead and three injured.

    Women and children from the villages of Kharam Vaiphei and L. Phaijang in the Leimakhong-Kangchup region were evacuated to safer locales on Saturday evening as tensions in the area's periphery grew.

    In the meantime, following the death of a Kuki-Zo volunteer in the Kangchup Bethel Area of Kangpokpi District this morning by armed miscreants, the Committee on Tribal Unity, or CoTU, Sadar Hills, imposed a 12-hour total shutdown from 12 noon on April 28 till 12 midnight in the entire Sadar Hills Kangpokpi district.
